The Functions of VitaminsVitamins are trace organic compounds needed in small amounts by all animals. There are about a dozen essential vitamins. Some are readily available in feed or synthesized by the animal. Many are deficient or inadequate for good health and development. Vitamins have many essential functions including: teeth and bone formation, chemical reactions within the body, improved appetite, growth and reproduction, muscle development, healthy blood and eyes, prevention of infections, resistance to disease, strong immune system, and better conception rate. Deficiencies can lead to poor growth and development, weak immune system, disease, low conception rates and weak offspring, low production, poor appetite, lack of vigor and stamina, impaired eye sight and general poor health. The Functions of MineralsMinerals are inorganic materials (contain no carbon) needed in small amounts by all animals. They provide material for growth of bones, teeth, and tissue. Minerals also help to regulate many vital chemical processes of the body. They aid in muscular activities, reproduction, digestion of feed, repair of body tissues, formation of new tissue, and release of energy for body heat. Deficiencies can lead to diseases such as: anemia, arthritis, and “tie-up”, and other problems such as weak bones and teeth, hoof problems, digestive problems, weakened immune system, and general lack of efficiency and resistance to diseases. Adequate amounts of vitamins and trace minerals are the key to improved health, stamina and performance. Research suggests that increased levels of trace minerals and vitamins can help improve an animal’s immune system. Increased levels may also improve the digestion and absorption of nutrients, thus improving feed efficiency. WHY FEED IRON HORSE EQUINE VITAMIN TRACE MINERAL CONDITIONER? Iron Horse uses the highest grade of vitamins and chelated minerals available. Iron Horse Conditioner will make a difference in your horses health, vigor and stamina. Some Feeding Tips A few horses need to be started gradually by using small amounts thoroughly mixed into the feed.
